Modular Office Filing Cabinet System (Taverse City) $1250
This is a great and usable piece of history from the late 800s or early 1900s. I understand that it came out of an insurance office in the Honor area and was used for many years as the main record keeping and storage system. It is a 7 piece modular unit consisting of the base – 2 file drawers – 2 file drawers – 2 long drawers – 2 layer card catalog – vertical tickler file – top. All these come apart for easy transportation and can be locked together with a special key that I do not have. I have used this in my office for the past 15 years or so and love it. Never found it necessary to lock sections together. Restructuring and remodeling force me to sell it. I would keep it if I could but I can’t fit it in anywhere. This unit has been refinished in a beautiful natural mahogany that lets the grain of this beautiful wood shine through Drawers are dovetail solid wood and hardware original including full extension slides on the filing cabinet drawers. One of these slides was not functioning properly and was removed. It is included and, I believe, can be repaired or replaced if you choose. There are a few pieces of wood missing at the joints. These popped off when it was stacked but I have all or most of them. They can be tacked in place with finish nails through original holes. You will note there are many gaps between the vertical metal separators in the top section. I removed a number (they just slide in and out) to fit my use. They are also included with the unit. I have many more pictures including close ups if you want to see them.
